Tether is the most used coin in crypto gambling, and it is not particularly close. A USDT casino gives you crypto's speed with a balance that stays worth what it was worth an hour ago. This Tether casino review page covers what USDT actually is, the long-running argument about its reserves, and the one mistake that costs players deposits.
What Tether is, and the reserves argument
Tether launched in 2014 as Realcoin, built on top of Bitcoin through the Omni layer, before rebranding within months. The premise was simple: one token, one dollar held in reserve, redeemable. It is now the largest stablecoin by a wide margin and one of the highest-volume assets in all of crypto.
The reserves have been the story ever since. For years Tether claimed full dollar backing, and for years no complete audit appeared. In February 2021 the New York Attorney General settled with Tether and Bitfinex for $18.5 million, with the office stating plainly that Tether's claims about backing had at times not been true. Tether admitted no wrongdoing but agreed to publish regular reserve breakdowns and stop serving New York.
What emerged is that reserves were never simply cash in a vault. They now sit overwhelmingly in US Treasury bills, with the composition published quarterly through attestations by an accounting firm. An attestation is a snapshot, not a full audit, and Tether has still never delivered one. The peg has held through every crisis since, including the collapse of Terra and FTX. Both facts are true at once, and how you weigh them is your call.
The network mistake
USDT runs on Ethereum as ERC-20, Tron as TRC-20, BSC, Solana and more, with a different address format on each. Sending the wrong version is the single most common way players lose a USDT deposit, and it is unrecoverable. The Tron version is usually the cheapest and fastest; the Ethereum version costs the most.
Pros and cons of Tether casinos
Pros
- Your balance does not move while you play, so the session's swings come from the games
- Accepted at practically every crypto casino, giving you the widest choice on this site
- Multiple networks, so you can pick the cheap route rather than pay Ethereum gas
- Bankroll management is far simpler when a unit is a dollar
Cons
- No full audit has ever been published, only periodic attestations
- Tether is a company and can freeze addresses; it has done so, cooperating with law enforcement
- Cross-network mistakes are final and common
- You are trusting an issuer, which is the exact thing crypto was built to avoid
